2018 Holder Scholarship Information
August 20, 2018
Dear Central States Chapter members,
The chapter’s college scholarship program is up and running again. The scholarship was established in the 1970s to honor Fred Holder, a deceased Central States member who had a passion for supporting young people’s pursuit of higher education. The scholarship’s history, an explanation of eligibility and an application are below. I was asked to chair the scholarship committee, and I meant to distribute this information earlier in the summer. However, there still is time to receive applications for a 2018-2019 academic year award, and the application notes an October 1 deadline. Active Katy Koontz has agreed to serve on the scholarship committee, and I seek two or three other members to join Katy and me. Our role will be to evaluate applications and forward our recommendations to the chapter executive committee. This is a great way to contribute to chapter activity. Speaking of contributions, a previous recipient of a Fred Holder Scholarship has supported the scholarship fund with a donation of $100. She is Carleigh Knowles, daughter of Gary Knowles. While I hope the scholarship information is self-explanatory, I welcome any questions – and volunteers.
